SEZs Summit 2025 Overview​

As our government and the country celebrate 50 years of our country’s independence, it is a good time for us to take stock of our journey in terms of our economic development from 1975 to present. Why do we have problems like highest unemployment, highest law-and-order problems, serious foreign currency issues, and depreciating Kina value? Why is it that we
have not achieved Economic Independence while other countries similar to us have strong economic growth and development?

Why did other countries like Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines perform very well during the same period? What did they do right? What should we learn from them and how should we chart a new course as we prepare to celebrate and launch into the next 50 years to achieve Economic Independence like the Asian Tiger Economies?

This Summit will be totally different from the other summits, conferences and the meetings of the past. During the three-strategic days, fundamental aspects of the event will cover updates into the 7 Special Economic Zones that started since the SEZ Act was enacted in 2019 and the SEZ Authority was established. Also, we will market specific SEZs that are ready for global investors, and we will sign key MOUs and Issue SEZ licenses during this impactful three-days.

Attention will be given to seven SEZs and special Speakers from different countries will be invited to speak of their experiences so we can hear and learn from world class SEZs around the world and come up with new economic policies like downstream processing of all our raw materials across all sectors. We will also look at some industries that needs to grow and develop in a big way like coffee, oil palm, cocoa, and vanilla.
